Staff at Clive Owen LLP ‘won’t be late for a very important date’ after signing up to take part in the annual St Teresa’s Hospice Midnight Walk, which each year raises thousands of pounds for the Darlington charity.
Fourteen of ‘Clive’s Walking Wonders’ from accounts, payroll and reception, plus a selection of family members, will set off on the 1.5-mile route through Darlington’s South Park on Friday, June 17, which this year features a fantasy Alice in Wonderland theme.
Clive Owen marketing manager Margaret Gill said: “We have been taking part in the St Teresa’s Midnight Walk for the past three years and have so far raised in the region of £900.
“I was amazed with the response I had from staff this year after asking for volunteers to take part.
“St Teresa’s is so much more than just a hospice; you can see the passion everyone there has for the care and support they provide, which does so much to help patients and their families.”
All walkers are being encouraged to dress as their favourite character from Alice in Wonderland with the best weird and whacky costume winning a prize.
Decorations along the route, as well as activities on the night, will also be themed to Lewis Carroll’s classic fantasy novel with all walkers receiving an Alice goody bag for taking part and a hot drink and bacon butty at the finish line.
“I think having an Alice in Wonderland theme is fantastic,” added Margaret. “I’ve seen the event get bigger and better every year and everyone looks forward to it. It’s a great opportunity to be involved in a fun night out for a great cause.”
To take part walkers can complete a registration form at the hospice or any St Teresa's charity shop. Online registration forms can be found at www.support.darlingtonhospice.org.uk/pages/midnight-walk
Registration for the walk costs £10, with entrants asked to try and raise £50 in sponsorship.
