The team of sixteen (six friends of the Tait Walker staff will also be joining them on the bike ride) chose to work with WATBus, a community transport charity based in Ashington, as it will be providing support for them on the bike ride.
With Bike Week (11-19 June) providing an additional incentive for the team to up their training, as well as being involved in Tait Walker’s Cycle to Work Scheme, they’re looking forward to getting started next week.
Claire Blake, marketing executive at Tait Walker who heads up the charity committee said: “We’re really proud to be supporting WATBus on our charity bike ride this month. The 130 mile route will be challenging, especially as our accommodation for the Thursday night is known as the highest pub in Britain, and will involve a seven mile climb to 1,732ft. to get there!
“However, knowing that the view from the top will be spectacular and that the money we raise is going to such a good cause will definitely keep us going.”
