Growth continues to be at the heart of business for Newcastle-headquartered Cairn Group, which has welcomed a new face to its expanding North East team, supporting its people-first approach.

With over 15 years’ experience in his field of expertise, Trevor joins the Cairn Group team as training and development manager, responsible for over 3,000 staff across the portfolio of 31 hotels and 30 plus bars, UK-wide.

Having proven success in design, delivery and evaluation of training activities and extensive leadership development accomplishments in previous roles working internationally, Trevor most recently worked for London-based Dominvs Group where he supported the growth of the family-run firm by implementing sustainable training tools and played a key role in the opening of three new-build hotels.

Trevor will be based in Newcastle, reporting into the city centre head office, although he will mainly be out in the field developing the company’s talent pipeline and supporting the various training initiatives in place across the different areas of the business.

Trevor, who lives in South Yorkshire, said: “I’m incredibly passionate about training and development and, through my previous experience, am looking forward to creating meaningful learning practices that really make a difference for Cairn Group’s people – pairing brain-friendly principles with innovative blended learning solutions. The company’s vision for people development is an inspiring one and I’m really excited to be a part of it.”

Cairn Group HR director Richard Adams said: “At Cairn Group we invest heavily in nurturing talent for the long term and we are confident Trevor will add another layer of success to our ambitious goals whilst helping shape and bring to life our ‘Grow With Us’ philosophy within the team, providing yet another strong asset to our expanding operation across the UK.

“The hospitality industry as a whole has a reputation for high staff turnover and this is something we are keen to flip on its head – this is where our ‘Grow Together’ initiative really comes into the fore where, working collectively, we empower our employees and encourage new ideas; always with a focus on delivering the very best experiences for our guests.”

Over the past five years, the Group has spent over £60m improving assets and doubled employee numbers in that period, establishing it as a leading player in the privately owned hotel owner and operator market.
