Latimer Hinks Solicitors is to enter a team into the Run Durham Hamsterely 10k to raise money for St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington.

The team (Toni-Ann Galvin, Nikita Nöel & Laura Richardson) aims to raise money for the hospice to honour the memory of their colleague Helen Thomas, who passed away from cancer in July 2016.

On April 22nd the team, who call themselves “Hel’s Angels” will take part in the 10km run through Hamsterely Forest.

Toni-Ann Galvin, Solicitor at Latimer Hinks, said: “It is a great honour to run in Helen’s memory. We have already received some donations and many people have also offered their support for the day, which has given us a massive boost. Helen was compassionate and generous, and it is wonderful to see that spirit live on in the people supporting us in this fundraising.”

Anne Elliott, Chief Executive at Latimer Hinks said “We’re incredibly proud of our three volunteers and hope that we can raise another significant amount for St Teresa’s.”

“Helen spent her last days at the hospice and would be proud to see us contribute to the ongoing success of the inpatient unit.”

The Run Durham event is the latest fundraising for St Teresa’s Hospice by the team at Latimer Hinks. The Hel’s Angels took part in last August’s “It’s a Knockout Challenge” and raised more than £1,000. Their year of fundraising will culminate with a charity ball at Wynyard Hall on November 10th.

St Teresa’s Hospice is an independent charity that works to provide a number of hospice services to patients across South Durham and North Yorkshire. The hospice offers home services, day therapy and inpatient care in its new specially designed unit. Important services such as family support through to care and bereavement support for those a patient leaves behind are also on offer for those who are affected by a loved one facing terminal illness.
