Shoppers at Teesside can expect to bump into some larger-than-life friends over the next six weeks, as the centre launched its new free dinosaur exhibition on Saturday (22nd July).
The free display, which will run until 4th September, offers families the chance to meet true-to-life Jurassic exhibits, uncover fun facts and take part in dinosaur-themed activities.
Four gigantic dinosaurs will be on display across Teesside, including a five-metre T-rex which roars and shakes at shoppers as they walk by, plus a stegosaurus, triceratops and velociraptor.
For younger shoppers, there’s a ‘dino dig’ sandpit in front of Mothercare where little ones can play and dig up dinosaur bones.
As part of the exhibition, Teesside will also be holding a series of free events for children every Tuesday and Friday for the duration of the exhibition, from 11am – 4pm. The events will include dinosaur-themed games, crafts and face painting hosted by expert explorers ‘Fiona Find-Me’ and ‘Sarah Search-Party’, as well as the chance to have a photo taken with a roaming T-Rex or ‘dino babies’.
Mike Clarke, centre director at Teesside, said: “With the school summer holidays now officially underway, we’re really excited to have our new dinosaur exhibition here for the first time.
“We know that keeping the kids entertained during the holidays can be tricky, so we’re pleased to bring the free exhibition and events to our shoppers’ doorsteps. I’m sure families will enjoy meeting the dinosaurs as they pop in to the centre to shop, enjoy a meal or watch a film.”
The free exhibition is suitable for children of all ages. The exhibition is open from 9.00am-8.00pm Monday to Saturday and 11.00am-5.00pm on Sunday.
