Stokesley-based Opentree, document management software experts, are sponsoring the BSI’s (British Standards Institution) Building Information Modelling (BIM) conference on September 30th.

The event sees leading CEOs, MDs and engineers from organisations such as Atkins, Balfour Beatty, Arup and RIBA meet to discuss the future of vital standards in facility design and construction.

Opentree has been selected as a major sponsor thanks to the company’s 20 year reputation in providing tailored electronic document management systems (EDMS) in sectors such as rail, manufacturing, oil and gas, construction and engineering.

Opentree, based on Stokesley Business Park, has its own specially-developed EDMS, known as Cabinet, which is used all over the world by leading names such as Atkins, Balfour Beatty, National Grid LNG Storage, Siemens, Signalling Solutions and Tata Steel to name a few.

The software is globally recognised and meets all necessary standards set by BSI for the BIM sector, known as BS 1192:2007. The author of the standard, Professor Mervyn Richards OBE, has also endorsed Cabinet for its ability to support the required standards.

The BSI’s BIM conference sees leading industry experts and standards makers discuss the increasingly important role ofBIM in all areas of the construction and civil engineering industry and will also review the role of information standards in facility design, construction and operation. The conference will discuss current best practice and how this is evolving to support collaborative working and sharing structured data within contractual relationships and in the open market, the fields in which Opentree are industry experts.

Managing director, Andrew Frank, said: “This year has been a period growth for Opentree following our re-brand and launch of our offices in Sheffield. We now operate on a global scale and this conference is where some of the major players converge so it is a fantastic opportunity for us.

“Our Cabinet software is highly regarded as it makes it easy for organisations to deliver a safe, structured, collaborative environment when working on a wide range of projects. The configuration of our software meets all BSI BIM best practice requirements and is endorsed by the standards’ author himself.”
