The clock is ticking – it’s Time for Nature

This World Environment Day, Climate Action North will host an online event on 5 June to celebrate the occasion.

‘Time for Nature’ will feature an impressive line-up of speakers who will talk about the natural world, how they spend their time in nature, while highlighting the key messages for the ecological and nature crisis.

Sharon Lashley, Managing Director at Climate Action North East, said: “This online event marks World Environment Day, the UN Environment Programme’s most important day for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment around the globe.

“The clock really is ticking for nature, which is on the verge of a breakdown. World Environment Day is an opportunity for us to learn how to become part of the solution, take care of the Earth, and get motivated to take action.”

The free event takes place over two sessions on Friday 5 June and includes an interactive Q&A session. The speakers are: Alan Watson Featherstone, an ecologist, nature photographer and inspirational public speaker; Amy-Jane Beer, columnist for British Wildlife and a Country Diarist for The Guardian; Hugh Warwick, author and ecologist with a particular interest in hedgehogs; Sacha Dench, UN Ambassador for Migratory Species and founder of Conservation without Borders; Mike Pratt, CEO of Northumberland Wildlife Trust; and Grace M Yoxon, Director and co-founder of the International Otter Survival Fund (IOSF).

Sharon said: “We urge people to join this very exciting and informative online event. It’s time for us all to reconnect with, and make more time for, nature. We all play a crucial part in nature, in the food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, all those things which make up the planet we live on. We are nature.”
