Thropton Village First School has been rated ‘good’ in all areas, following a recent Ofsted inspection.
The rating has received a warm welcome from teachers and parents as the school, situated in Thropton, Morpeth, was previously rated as ‘requires improvement’ in December 2015.
Since the last inspection, staff and governors have worked hard to make changes, ensuring parents are fully involved in new developments which include class structures, a bespoke training programme and teaching support.
A partnership with Dr Thomlinson Middle School has also been established, which sees staff working across both schools to share experience and expertise, ensuring the school always has sufficient capacity to improve the quality of teaching further.
Councillor Wayne Daley, cabinet member for children’s services said: “Congratulations to Thropton Village First School, and all those involved in supporting the school over the last two years to gain this result.
“A great deal of hard work has paid off, and everyone involved should be very proud of the results.”
Andy Johnson, Interim Director of Children’s Services at Northumberland County Council said: “We have been working closely with the school to support them in making improvements and I am delighted to see the results so far.”
