Top marks for Railway Housing Association

ENGLAND’S national housing regulator has awarded Railway Housing Association its highest possible rating.

The Regulator of Social Housing has given the organisation a G1 rating for Governance and a V1 rating for financial Viability.

This demonstrates that Railway Housing Association is compliant with all its governance responsibilities and has the capacity to deal with a range of financial pressures should they arise.

It follows an In Depth Assessment conducted over recent months and which involved detailed scrutiny of documents, processes, the analysis of data, interviews with the Senior Management Team and observation of a board meeting.

Railway Housing Association Chief Executive Anne Rowlands said: “These assessments are the housing equivalent of inspections that are carried out in schools and in health and social care settings.

“The regulator looked at everything from our business plan through to how well we protect the health and safety of our residents, and how well we are using all of our resources to maximise the delivery of our social purpose of providing good quality homes to meet housing need.

“So, to achieve the highest possible rating is a great achievement and provides a good platform for us to continue to provide high quality housing services in the North East, Yorkshire and Herefordshire.

“2019 is the 100th anniversary of Railway Housing Association so it’s good to know that we are well positioned as we enter our second century.”
