A small boutique hotel in Bainbridge took a gold medal in Visit England’s 2016 ‘Awards for Excellence’, while a Leyburn based guesthouse won a silver.
The annual awards celebrate excellence across the industry, with 16 winners selected from a final 79 entrants.
Gold winner Yorebridge House was the only finalist from the north of England in the Small Hotel category – but the hotel in the heart of the Dales took top slot.
And Low Mill Guesthouse – based in a converted mill – was pipped into second place by Trevose Harbour House in St Ives, Cornwall.
“These awards celebrate the best in tourism so to have two winners in Richmondshire is a wonderful achievement,” said Leader of the Council, Councillor Yvonne Peacock.
“This is the highest accolade that Visit England can bestow and these two businesses are worthy recipients. It is even more proof that Richmondshire and our beautiful Dales are some of the best places to visit in the UK!”
