One of the UK’s leading industrial technology specialists is actively recruiting girls and women in STEM across the country and internationally as it strives to promote equality and diversity in the workplace.

Tracerco – headquartered in Billingham, Teesside and part of the Johnson Matthey group – has committed to making a big drive towards recruiting the very best talent in the industry, with a particular focus on attracting females at every level to join its varied STEM roles.

As part of the STEM agenda, the sector as a whole is aiming to have a target of 1.5 million women working in STEM by 2030, equating to 30% of the workforce being female.

And the Tracerco business is already well on track with this – breaking barriers – as 28% of its workforce, across the globe are female.

Since the start of this year alone, the company has appointed 64 new staff with 33% being women. It is now looking to grow its workforce across the globe within the next year – including appointing several graduates and apprentices – as part of its ambitious growth plans.

With a diverse range of talent across the business, the company is spearheaded by three highly respected women who sit on the senior management team, which comprises 10 people.

Speaking about the recruitment drive, Jon Tate, Managing Director at Tracerco said: “We are delighted to be at the very forefront in encouraging women in STEM. The industry is positively shifting and women offer a new diversity of opinion which encourages ideas to be challenged and inspires creativity.

“It is so important that we actively encourage and nurture talent into the industry and there are lots of opportunities for women in Tracerco and engineering as a whole – at every level – whether it’s being a physicist, chemist, sales or field engineer through to software developer or a career in support services.”

Tracerco prides itself on its diversity and inclusion of people across the globe. All staff across the business are offered personal development plans providing the tools and knowledge to enable people to drive forward their own career ambitions aligning those with the needs of the business.

The company is well underway with launching schemes to encourage young girls into a STEM career. Most recently Tracerco invited 30 girls from a specialist STEM college to attend its state-of-the-art facilities sited in the UK. Throughout the day, the business introduced the girls to inspiring women in the company and helped them to connect to what it is like to be a female in engineering.

Tracerco – part of the Johnson Matthey plc – is a global oil and gas service company with over 60 years’ experience. With offices located across the world, the company is well recognised for delivering innovative technologies enabling its customers to make informed decisions.
