Tyne Tunnel Operator Shortlisted for Prestigious National Award

18025TT2 Limited, the company which operates the Tyne Tunnels, has been shortlisted in the Tunnel Operator of the Year category at the 2015 Tunnelling & Underground Space Awards.

The judging panel has carefully reviewed the entries for this year’s Tunnelling & Underground Space Awards. The awards have had a record breaking year with more than 80 organisations entering their outstanding projects and initiatives into the awards.

Winners will be announced on 3 December 2015 at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London where the industry elite will join together for an afternoon of recognition, celebration and networking.

Rachel Turnbull, Chief Executive of TT2 Ltd, said: “Since we opened the second Tyne Tunnel in 2011, we have seen traffic levels exceeding 50,000 vehicles per day making use of the crossing for personal and business journeys on the busy A19 corridor.

“To be one of only three shortlisted organisations for this prestigious award is recognition of the hard work and dedication of the TT2 team, many of whom have worked at the Tyne Tunnels for 30 years or more.

“We are very proud to have reached this stage and look forward to competing for the award itself in December.”
