Volkswagen ID. line-up electrifies Fully Charged Live

Milton Keynes – Members of the public will be able to see and, for some models, drive the award-winning, all-electric Volkswagen ID. range at this year’s exciting Fully Charged Live. From Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May at Farnborough International, Fully Charged Live visitors can experience the latest models and access expert electric vehicle buying advice.

Volkswagen’s appearance at Fully Charged Live, the leading clean energy and electric vehicle show, will be the first time the stylish new ID.5 and ID. Buzz have been on show to the UK’s public alongside the ID.3 and ID.4.

The exciting new ID.5 will make its first public appearance at the show, the comprehensively-equipped and distinctively styled SUV-coupé being showcased alongside the ID. Buzz on static display, while the ID.3 family hatchback and ID.4 compact SUV will be available for test drives. This will allow show-goers to find out for themselves the impressive driving dynamics of these sophisticated Volkswagen EVs.

Priced from £50,550 RRP OTR, the ID.5 majors on a generous equipment list, offering the latest technology, connectivity and innovation, and opened for order to UK customers in late January. Tech, Max and GTX trims are available for the ID.5, as well as three performance options – 174 PS Pro, 204 PS Pro Performance, and 299 PS GTX.

The ID.5 is comprehensively equipped. Its broad specification includes 19-inch ‘Hamar’ alloy wheels, Matrix LED lights front and rear, including 3D dynamic light signals, full panoramic sunroof, and the ‘Discover Max’ 12-inch infotainment display, from entry-level Tech trim upwards. In fact, so well-equipped is the ID.5 that only five options are offered: paint colour, wheel design, an energy-efficient heat pump (standard on Max and GTX trims), and a 3-pin charging cable.

Unveiled in March with order books set to open in the summer, the thoroughly modern Volkswagen ID. Buzz draws on iconic design cues from the iconic Volkswagen T1, including the striking, optionally available two-tone paint finish.

Though its design is inspired by heritage, the all-electric ID. Buzz is packed with the latest electric vehicle technology and majors on connectivity and sustainability – for example, the model has upholstery featuring recycled materials. Its interior is completely free of any real leather. The practical body style also means that the five-seat ID. Buzz offers superb practicality, with load space that can be extended to a cavernous 2,205 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The ID. range has already made a big impression, with over 20 awards presented to the trailblazing models since their arrival in the UK. Highlights include the ID.4 being named World Car of the Year in 2021, while the ID. Buzz most recently scooped Top Gear magazine’s ‘Electric Car of the Year 2022’ award.

Visitors to Fully Charged Live will experience the full breadth of the ID. line-up’s capabilities, including the top-selling ID.3 which was recently named by What Car? as ‘Best Small Electric Car for Long Distances’, among numerous other accolades presented by industry experts and judging panels.

ID. models are produced with a net carbon-neutral footprint, and this carbon neutrality can be continued into the vehicles’ working lives if charged with renewable electricity.

Sarah Cox, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen UK, said: “Fully Charged Live is a must not only for anyone thinking about buying an electric vehicle, but also for the growing band of EV enthusiasts.

“This is a great opportunity to gather the information people need, helped by experts on hand, with an emphasis on having fun along the way. These ID. models – headlined by the dynamic new ID.5 and ID. Buzz – are sure to be top attractions at the event.”
