The aim of the ‘Household Enquiry Form’ is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.
The council is once more using an automated service to complete the form – web and telephone replies are possible. And for 2016 the web service will permit changes too – names to be added or removed. Security codes are provided on the canvass form to access these systems – and the form does not need to be returned by post when using one of these methods.
As well as giving electors greater options this system also reduces the Electoral Registration postal costs – however the form can be returned by post in the envelope provided or delivered to any of the council offices in Northallerton, Stokesley or Easingwold.
“Anyone that wants to vote must be registered,” said Dr Justin Ives, Electoral Registration Officer at Hambleton District Council.
“To make sure you are able to have your say at next year’s North Yorkshire County Council elections please check the form and complete it straightway using one of the options on the form to save a reminder having to be sent or a personal visit to your home”.
“If you are not currently registered we will send you information explaining how to register or you can just go online to apply to register at www.gov.uk/register-to- vote .”
It is particularly important that anyone who has moved address recently looks out for the form and checks whether they are registered.
