Waste Aware North East and partners including the Environment Agency have developed the online resource to make locating waste advice and services easier. Jo Holmes from Waste Aware North East said ‘The North East has a world class waste management sector, whatever anyone’s waste issue our sector has the answer. We realised that organisations throughout the North East that produce waste may not know who is out there to help them. This resource enables all organisations to search for waste services and advice across the region from the large waste companies to one man bands. We have added lots of information to the site that will help steer you through the many pieces of waste legislation that affect businesses.’
The site is free to use and more importantly user friendly to make it quick and easy to navigate. Many of the regions waste sector businesses have already registered their details on the site, so whatever your waste issue the North East sector will have the answer. There is a useful ask the experts section on the website so anyone who isn’t’ sure what they can do with their waste can post a query on there and the experts will respond.
The site has already helped a North East Business secure a new waste management contract. Managing Director of the First Fix Group, David Holmes said ‘We used the Waste Directory North East as we were unhappy with our existing waste management option, we wanted to recycle more of our waste and pay less. We posted an enquiry on the Ask the Experts section and were contacted by waste companies who came out and gave us quotes. We now recycle more of our waste and pay a lot less for our waste management on an annual basis. We were happy with the site and would use it again’.
