CHEFS at one of Newcastle’s best loved venues are serving up a New Year’s treat for parents and partygoers alike.
Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, which manages catering and events at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park stadium, is holding not one, but two, special events on Saturday, 31 December, to ensure no one misses the chance to celebrate the occasion.
The fun will kick off with an early evening fixture, aimed at families, comprising a hot fork buffet of dishes such as chicken tikka masala, hot dogs, fish fingers and vegetable lasagne with desserts including lemon cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fudge cake.
This will be followed by party games, a disco and even a special appearance from the club’s mascots Monty and Maggie.
And then later in the evening, the stadium will host its annual New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner for revellers keen to ring in the New Year in style.
Guests will be served Champagne on arrival before sitting down to a four-course meal, created by Sodexo’s award-winning team of chefs.
A starter of roasted tomato and pancetta soup will be followed by an eight-hour slow roasted rare fillet of beef – or a vegetarian alternative of brie, leek and polenta cake – with allotment vegetables, parsley creamed potatoes and a red wine reduction.
The meal will be rounded off with a trio of desserts; chocolate brûlée, orange posset and warm apple and cinnamon crumble and a cheese board with nut bread and homemade chutney.
After coffee and petit fours have been served, diners will take to the dancefloor for live entertainment, then enjoy a selection of mini pies and stotties at midnight as a piper heralds the New Year.
The Family New Year party will take place between 5pm and 10pm and costs £30 with a free child place for every adult. Additional child tickets cost £15 for under 16s with under threes free of charge.
The Gala Dinner will be held from 7pm to 2am and tickets cost £55.95 per person. To book, or for further information, call 0191 201 8525 or e-mail candb@nufc.co.uk
