Last year, Yarm School opened its new Music School, futuristic boathouse and new AstroTurf pitches. To celebrate the completion of the work, Richard and Lucy Critchlow of Dependable Productions, who have two sons at Yarm School, embarked on an ambitious project to film a birds-eye view of the whole school site.
The finished result is a remarkable three-minute long film which zooms high above pupils rowing on the River Tees before gaining altitude for an overview of Yarm’s pre-prep, prep and senior schools.
The video, which has been viewed thousands of times and shared across the world on social media, has been selected for screening at the prestigious London Drone Film Festival at the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Yarm School headmaster David Dunn said: “The result of Dependable Productions’ filming is absolutely incredible, so it’s no surprise that the video has been selected for screening at the festival.
“Richard and Lucy have both had long and illustrious careers filming such momentous events as the final Concorde flight, Royal weddings and funerals, and General Elections, so to have them and their team filming here at Yarm School has been a real honour.
“The finished result perfectly sums up the school’s ethos of providing a very diverse education for our pupils, including sports, music and outdoor activities.”
Richard Critchlow, Creative Director of Dependable Productions, said: “Drones are now prevalent in almost all aspects of filming, so it’s no surprise that a drone specific film festival has been launched.
“We’re delighted the film has been selected to be shown at the London Drone Film festival in the prestigious Institute of Contemporary Art. I’m really proud of the team that worked on it. It required detailed planning, very careful flying, a fantastic “cast”, precision camera work and brilliant editing.”
