Families were invited to South Marine Park, in South Shields, for a fun filled afternoon including an egg hunt and an Easter bonnet competition, which saw youngsters showcasing an array of homemade colourful bonnets.

The Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside, Councillor Richard Porthouse and his wife Pat, judged the Easter bonnet contest.

The Mayor said: “A cracking time was had by all who took part in the Easter activities in South Marine Park.

“It was fantastic to see so many families and children take part in the egg hunt and the Mayoress and I were blown away by the creativity of the Borough’s youngsters while judging the Easter bonnet competition.”

The afternoon of activities, organised by the Friends of South Marine Park, ended with a kids show by Tony Junior at the bandstand.
