Ryedale residents are being asked to add their views on the way Ryedale District Council funds services  and sets council tax levels for 2016/17.

The results of the consultation will inform the decision to be made by Council on 23 February 2016 on the budget and council tax level for 2016/17.

“Ryedale District Council is the Collection Authority and whilst we collect 100% of the Council Tax  from you 12% is  used by Ryedale to provide services which include   refuse collection, street cleaning, recycling, leisure facilities, housing, economic development, planning, environmental health, animal welfare and community safety “  said Janet Waggott, Chief Executive of Ryedale District Council.

” The other 88% is split between North Yorkshire County Council (69%), North Yorkshire Police (13%), North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (4%) and parishes (2%).

“We are currently considering our budget and council tax levels for 2016/17 and beyond. Councillors have asked officers to prepare a budget with a nil increase in Council Tax for 2016/17.

” It is important that you have your say  and we would like to hear your opinion about which services we currently offer that you feel are a priority.”

The deadline for responses is Friday 18 December 2015
