Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

£1m investment breathes new life into Middlesbrough business centre

18983A significant investment of more than £1m has led to the creation of a state-of-the-art office development in Middlesbrough, with the potential to create up to 200 jobs, once it is at full occupancy.

Cleveland Business Centre, on Watson Street, which overlooks Central Gardens in the town, is undergoing a complete refurbishment to create a contemporary facility, which is already attracting new tenants – particularly from the legal profession and IT sector.

The investment to develop the three-storey business centre will create new conference facilities and have on-site car parking for up to 50 vehicles, with each office benefiting from high speed broadband up to 100MB, and improvements in IT infrastructure and technology, along with state-of-the-art telecommunications systems.

In addition, a fully-functional gymnasium will be built for the use of tenants, staff and their families, with shower and locker room facilities available, as well as a secure bike park.

The business centre will comprise of 50 units between 500 sq. ft. and 5,000 sq.ft.

Linthorpe Developments, one of Middlesbrough’s leading private commercial property developers, is behind the regeneration project and expects the refurbishment to be completed in June.

The Cleveland Business Centre development follows on from the transformation and success of Central Point, also in Middlesbrough, which is now at 100% occupancy since it was bought and developed by Linthorpe Developments, in 2015.

Geoff Hogg, managing director of Linthorpe Developments, said: “Due to the success of Central Point and the subsequent demand we are receiving from businesses wishing to invest and relocate in Middlesbrough, we decided to invest in Cleveland Business Centre, which is an exciting development. We are now hoping to create another thriving business community with state-of-the-art facilities and high quality office space available to tenants.

“At present, the centre is home to a lot of businesses from professional services, including barristers and law firms, and following the investment in IT infrastructure, amongst other amenities, this will make Cleveland Business Centre an ideal location for established firms as well as start-ups.”

Linthorpe Developments is led by regeneration entrepreneur Geoff Hogg, who possesses more than 20 years’ experience in the property sector and has invested more than £20million across the North East in retail, office and residential schemes.

Mr Hogg added: “We are already receiving a great deal of interest amongst potential tenants, which will hopefully lead to the creation of jobs in the community and more businesses coming to Middlesbrough. The business centre has great potential and will aid the local economy in the long-term.”
