Flying winger Zach Kibirige has nailed his colours to Newcastle Falcons’ mast, the Teesside try machine signing a new two-year deal with the Kingston Park club.
The 24-year-old came through the Falcons’ academy and has become renowned for his ruthless finishing, scoring 10 tries in nine games this season.
Four of those have come during his five Gallagher Premiership outings, Kibirige saying: “I’m really enjoying my rugby with the Falcons and it’s great to have the new contract finalised.
“We’ve got an incredibly talented squad here, we’re working hard to improve our league position and I’m learning every day.
“Winning our last three Premiership games against some good sides shows what we are really about, and I’m excited about the future here.”
Kibirige starred for England at Under-20s level and has also represented the national sevens side, the former Yarm School pupil playing junior rugby with home town club Middlesbrough RUFC.
Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Zach is a local lad who has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the best finishers around.
“The fact that he sees his future here is a great endorsement of what we are about as a club, and we place enormous value on promoting our local talent.”
Newcastle Falcons’ next home game is on Friday April 12 when Leicester Tigers are the Gallagher Premiership visitors to Kingston Park Stadium. Call 0871 226 6060 to book tickets for the 7.45pm kick-off.
