A Tees Valley-based provider of rope access services has secured a deal to support a significant infrastructure project in the Lake District.
Total Solutions, in partnership with Cubby Construction, is working on the final phase of the development that will help create the new multi-user trail between Keswick and Threlkeld, which was severely damaged by Storm Desmond during December 2015.
Storm Desmond caused extensive damage to two bridges that cross the River Greta, resulting in flooding and pathways being completely washed away. The extensive works will rebuild and repair the remaining 5km of the trail as well as see the construction of two new bridges. Total Solutions scope also includes the blasting/painting refurbishment of eight bridges, six of which cross the River Greta, requiring innovative access solutions.
This final phase of the Keswick-Threlkeld development is expected to be completed in autumn 2020, providing a boost to the area’s local and tourism economies.

Total Solutions core services include inspection, fabric maintenance, integrity management, consultancy and maintenance services to on and offshore projects internationally.
It has also been involved in the complex refurbishment of the giant Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank Observatory – an internationally-renowned landmark in the world of astronomy – where the project includes the replacement of inner bowl plates and various painting / pipework installation. This project proved to be very challenging considering the shape, bespoke suspended decking system was introduced, which saved the client a considerable cost and time.
