Grace House is delighted to announce an exciting partnership with Royal Navy submarine HMS Anson, which is currently being built in Barrow in Furness. HMS Anson is affiliated with Sunderland, therefore, the Captain and the Ships Company wanted to build on this relationship by supporting a local charity. After meeting the team and finding out more about what we do at Grace House the decision was made that we would be the charity of choice for the lifetime of the submarine.
To kick start the partnership 17 members of the Ships Company took part in the 53rd annual Keswick to Barrow walk on Saturday 11th May and they have also organised a bike ride from Barrow to Sunderland in August.
As well as fundraising for Grace House the team have been volunteering in our gardens and doing an incredible job. They have erected a poly tunnel, cut the grass, weeding and generally making a huge difference!
Chief Executive Victoria Brown said “We are thrilled to be working with HMS Anson and the Ships Company and believe this partnership will make a huge difference to the work carried out at Grace House. The Company immediately rolled up their sleeves and got straight down to work in the gardens at Grace House. We have all been so impressed by their level of enthusiasm and professionalism “
Captain Scott Bower RN has said “The crew of HMS Anson is looking forward to cultivating and maintaining strong links with Grace House, and we are keen to assist in their good work.”
We would like to say a huge thank you to HMS Anson for their support and we are looking forward to working together for many years to come.
