The keen fundraisers can always be relied on to make a heroic effort when it comes to doing their bit for a good cause.

Celebrations got underway at the College’s Teesdale campus with music and dance from the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students. While staff and students dressed up as superheroes and childhood heroes in a day of fancy dress.

ESOL student Ajmeet Kaur, 16, who is originally from Afghanistan, played the harmonium during a lunch time of performances and entertainment.

She said: “It is good to be able to perform and do something to help others.”

While Karanjeet Singh, 17, also from Afghanistan, added: “Our class wanted to do something to help the children. It is important to help if you can.”

The Student Council played their part by raising money through a cake stall, raffle, tombola and face painting.

Stockton Riverside College’s Head of Marketing and Recruitment, Vicky Petrie, said: “I am always amazed by how willing our students and staff are to get involved in events like this.

“It is a great opportunity for them to have fun but it also has an important message behind it, raising awareness of those in need within our community and also the wider world and how we can all help make a difference.

“Heroes are not just the super heroes, each and every person that donates is a hero themselves.”
