North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

sccTHIS YEAR’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAMME in libraries is wrapped up into one special package on Saturday 5 December.

The main programme at City Library and Washington Library provides a range of family events and activities.

There’s everything from Christmas storytelling for the children and Christmas crafts and cup-cake decorations for their families, to Christmas music from Sunderland Rock Choir and Christmas drama from a Theatre Space ‘ flash mob.’

Creative Cohesion will help people design and create their own decorations down to even writing their own motto to put into personalised Christmas crackers. And, the Arts Studio will offer a range of unique gift ideas from their handmade arts and crafts.

Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture, Councillor John Kelly said: ““The Christmas programme is designed to appeal to all interests and ages, and I hope children will bring their families and vice versa, to join in with the fun.

“At this time of year we know people may struggle to find the time to visit their libraries, so we decided to organise the main Christmas programme of events and activities on the same day.

“Don’t worry though if you can’t make it on Saturday 5 December, because all our libraries have a great range of books to help with preparation for the festive season, from cookery and craft to Christmas stories for the young and young at heart to enjoy.”
