An independent gift and card shop has been awarded Stockton Town Centre’s ‘Best Dressed Christmas Window’ for the second year running.
Katie’s Kards, based in Wellington Square, won the accolade as part of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s celebration of Small Business Saturday which took place on 5 December.
As part of the national day, which encourages people to support small local businesses, traders in Stockton Town Centre were invited to dress their shop windows with festive decorations.
Photos of the most attractive window displays were then uploaded onto Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s and Rediscover Stockton’s Facebook pages and people were able to vote for their favourite.
Katie’s Kards’ duo of festive scenes got the most ‘likes’ and the card shop was declared the winner for the second year running.
Owner Katie Green said: “It is fantastic to win ‘Best Dressed Window’ and be a part of the friendly competition. Thank you to everyone who voted for us. My sister Laura works in the shop with me and we had a great time decorating the windows together. All of the businesses did a really good job, shoppers are enjoying stopping by to have a closer look and to pick up some cards and presents. It’s been great fun.”
Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: “So many of our Town Centre businesses entered this competition and created fantastic displays in their windows to really get people into the festive spirit. Congratulations to Katie for another wonderful display and to all of the participants for their efforts.”
