Harrogate Charity Appoints Talented Marketing Lead

Harrogate-based patient safety charity The Association for Perioperative Practice has expanded its team with the appointment of a talented marketing lead.

Bringing along thirty years of experience in brand development and marketing strategy, Louise Ashton joins the team to develop the company’s brand further, paying particular attention to member perception and benefits.

In addition, she will be responsible for analysing the member journey and experience, with a view to developing and implementing strategies for membership acquisition and retention.

The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) is the UK’s leading membership organisation for operating theatre practitioners, who put patient safety at the heart of everything they do.

For over 50 years they have worked to enhance skills and knowledge within operating departments, sterile services departments and associated areas.

Their mission is to improve standards of care and patient safety within the perioperative arena by determining correct standards and promoting best practice, facilitating education and practice development, providing professional support services for perioperative practitioners, providing a forum for partnership with industry and shaping healthcare policy in the UK.

Currently members benefit from an online professional advisory service (PAS), a selection of CPD accredited study days, access to a variety of online forums, a monthly professional Journal – Journal of Perioperative Practice, and career advice.

Louise’s appointment is the first in three appointments that the charity will make this year, highlighting its commitment to enhancing its support for members.

Prior to her appointment, Louise held a number of marketing lead and brand development roles within companies such as Henshaws, Engage Mutual, AXA PPP Healthcare and Cherry Tiger.

Passionate about working for a charity whose primary focus is to make a difference, Louise decided to join AfPP because of their commitment to enhancing patient safety.

Louise said: “AfPP is a fabulous organisation with a real passion for improving patient care and safety within perioperative practice.

“Their members are at the heart of everything they do, and I can’t wait to start working with the team to create a stronger brand and raise awareness of the great benefits.”

CEO of the association Dawn Stott said: “Louise will be a great asset to the organisation with her strong interest in the member journey, her writing skills and strategic vision.

“She will complement the HQ team who are already working hard to promote safer surgery.”
