I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is one of the wackiest, most popular British TV shows out there, and it is set to dominate our TV screens throughout the run up to Christmas yet again this year. Just in case you aren’t yet familiar with I’m A Celeb, it revolves around a group of celebrities, living together in a jungle environment for several weeks, and competing in crazy challenges and trials, in attempt to be crowned either king or queen of the jungle. These challenges and trials are famous for being especially grisly. Often, they involve celebrities having to chomp down disgusting foods, such as silk worms, spiders and various different types of animal testicles. Other challenges involve the celebs hopping into tanks full of snakes or having insects crawl all over their faces. The show definitely isn’t for the faint hearted, but most fans love it for its gruesome aspect. If you want to get involved in the action some bingo sites offer I’m a celeb games where you tick off events that happen in the show till someone wins (in typical bingo fashion)! We can’t wait for the new series to begin, especially now that the official list of celebrity contestants who will be entering the jungle has been confirmed.
Who Are The Confirmed 2019 Contestants?
Ian Wright is a former professional footballer and television and radio presenter, who shortly after his retirement from sport was awarded an MBE for his services to football.
Caitlyn Jenner is a former Olympic medalist and an American television personality. Despite her incredible athletic achievements, Jenner is perhaps most famous for her appearance on reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, alongside ex wife Kris Jenner and their daughters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner and step daughters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe.
Singer Nadine Coyle first came to fame back in the early 2000s as a member of the girl group Girls Aloud on the TV show Popstars: The Rivals.
Irish stand-up comedian Andrew Maxwell is especially well known for being the narrator of MTV reality series, Ex On The Beach, and for his appearances on British comedy shows Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Mock The Week.
Jacqueline Jossa is an English actress, best known for playing the role of Lauren Branning in the BBC series East Enders.
BBC Radio 1 presenter Adele Roberts first came onto our screens as a Big Brother contestant back in 2002.
Singer Myles Stephenson rose to fame back in 2017, when he auditioned for the X factor as part of the R’n’B boyband, Rak-Su.
Kate Garraway is a well-known journalist, television and radio presenter, who has featured on many popular programmes, including Strictly Come Dancing and Lorraine.
Former Rugby Union player, James Haskell, has played for Wasps RFC, Northampton Saints, and internationally for England over the course of his successful sporting career.
Roman Kemp is a popular radio host and presenter for national radio network Capital FM.
Who’s Most Likely To Win?
As there usually is before the beginning of any I’m A Celeb Series, there has already been a lot of speculation over which of the ten celebrity contestants is most likely to be crowned king or queen of the jungle this year. According to Oddschecker:
Contestant Ian Wright is most likely to become the king of the jungle, with 4/1 odds. James Haskell is the current second favourite to win, with odds of 5/1.
With Caitlyn Jenner 9/2, Myles Stephenson 6/1, and Roman Kemp 6/1 following closely behind.
The least popular I’m A Celeb contestant currently seems to be Adele Roberts, Andrew Maxwell, Kate Garraway, Nadine Coyle.
(Disclaimer: These odds may have changed)
Popularity contest?
Perhaps Ian Wright is so popular to win the show, in part, due to former footballer Harry Redknapp’s success on the programme in 2018. As Redknapp was so popular, perhaps fans also have high expectations from Wright, due to their similar career paths.
Caitlyn Jenner is one of the most well known contestants this year with her family are the most dominant on social media and are sure to have many supportive fans.
Myles Stephenson is young, good-looking and in shape to tackle the more physical challenges- but also has a strong likeable personality, being arguably the standout member in Rak-Su, which might appeal to many voters. Similarly, Roman Kemp fits this same appeal; young, funny and likeable. He is also one to watch.
Neither Adele Roberts or Andrew Maxwell seem to be controversial characters. Perhaps their current lack of popularity stems from them being less widely known celebs, compared with the likes of Ian Wright and Caitlyn Jenner. However, this could easily change as the show gets going, and the momentum behind both Roberts and Maxwell could soon pick up!
As the 2019 series of I’m A Celeb finally comes to our screens, we cannot wait to see how the new contestants do, and how they fair against the odds placed upon them. Although Ian Wright is the favourite to win, anything could happen on the show. In fact, as the female favourite to win, Jacqueline Jossa has already said that she wants to prove she’s no push over. Men may be dominating the list of most likely to win so far, but previous years have already proven to us that the women can easily snatch the crown away.
