Mapping out an action-packed summer of cricket featuring some of the biggest names in the game
Today the fixtures for the first ever season of The Hundred have been announced. The competition will run throughout the summer holidays from 17 July-15 August 2020, featuring some of the world’s best players in the most exciting matchups.
The Hundred kicks off with the men’s competition at the Kia Oval, as Oval Invincibles welcome Welsh Fire for the Friday evening opening game. The following day Manchester Originals take on Northern Superchargers at Emirates Old Trafford.
Birmingham Phoenix’s competition starts with back-to-back fixtures. They take on London Spirit at Edgbaston on 18 July and Midlands opposition Trent Rockets the next day at Trent Bridge.
On the 19 July Steve Smith and Jofra Archer will reignite rivalries from this summer, as Welsh Fire take on Southern Brave at Sophia Gardens.
The Hundred women’s competition begins 22 July at Blackfinch New Road, where Birmingham Phoenix host Manchester Originals.
The day after, Lord’s will host the first double header of the competition, with both the men’s and women’s Northern Superchargers heading down to the capital to take on London Spirit’s teams.
Southern Brave will then play Birmingham Phoenix in the second double header of the competition on 24 July at Edgbaston. The following day Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire will start their campaign at Trent Bridge, for another gripping double header.
London fans will see the first local derby double header as Oval Invincibles take on the London Spirit men’s and women’s teams at the Kia Oval on 29 July.
All teams will be eyeing the 14 and 15 August, when the women’s and men’s finals days will be taking place respectively. Venues for both finals will be announced shortly.

Taking on the Welsh Fire first will be an interesting challenge as they have some world class players. I’m confident in the strength of our squad, it will be a thrilling opener.”
Gary Kirsten, Welsh Fire men’s Head Coach said: “Playing in the opening fixture is an honour. Tom (Moody) has pulled together a solid team, but I’m excited about the potential ability of Welsh Fire.”
Ben Sawyer, Birmingham Phoenix women’s Head Coach said: “It is fantastic to be opening the first season of The Hundred. Our team is coming together now and looking strong, having recently added Georgia Elwiss to Amy Jones, Kirstie Gordon and Sophie Devine. I’ve got no doubt our opening fixture against Manchester Originals will be a great event.”
