A North East law firm is celebrating significant growth across several of its departments following a period of expansion.
Emmersons Solicitors, which operates offices in Gosforth and Sunderland, has announced that the turnover within its residential conveyancing department has increased by 14.6%, while its commercial conveyancing department has experienced a 33% increase in activity. The overall business has experienced an income increase of 43% over the last two years. Its wills and probate department activity has increased by 22% and staff headcount has grown by 25%.
Jacqueline Emmerson, who founded the firm 21 years ago, said: “This is a very exciting time for Emmersons Solicitors as we celebrate this recent and substantial expansion. We’ve welcomed new clients and team members and had an overall outstanding year.

The firm’s support of the local community includes its support of several different charities, including Armed Forces charity, SSAFA, homeless charity Crisis, the British Heart Foundation and Feeding Families North East. The firm is also an official member of Solicitors for the Elderly, a specialist group of lawyers who have pledged to make a difference to older and vulnerable people. It’s dedication to the older community also includes its status as ‘Dementia Friends’ and its involvement in the Alzheimer’s Association scheme, offering reduced fee work in relation to Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Emmersons Solicitors has also been shortlisted twice for the Law Society Excellence Awards and gained its Lexcel Accreditation. The firm was Highly Commended during the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards in the ‘Medium Sized Business’ category and was mentioned in Parliament thanks to its successful campaign for a change to defence sentencing.
