A North East technology business is using its own software and systems development expertise to move into the app development sector.
Succorfish is a world leader in providing accurate, reliable and affordable monitoring technologies to high profile clients in the maritime, military, logistics, rail and security industries around the world.
The North Tyneside-headquartered firm has developed a wide range of apps over the last five years to enable customers and industry authorities to easily monitor, manage and utilise the real time data they’re receiving.
And it is now looking to use its in-house expertise to provide end-to-end bespoke IoS and Android app development services within its core markets, either as a standalone project or for integration into existing systems.
Two specialist app developers are now working on third party app development projects, with a number of further roles expected to be created within the team as the service grows.
The team builds native applications for both iOS and Android devices, and has particular expertise in developing native mobile apps which include all the specific features and characteristics required for mobile platforms, including Bluetooth technologies.
Founded in 2008, Succorfish has a 20-strong in-house design, software engineering, development and customer service team which manages all aspects of clients’ technology requirements, and also provides bespoke training programmes where required.
Its hardware, which is designed and manufactured in North Shields, is currently being successfully used by customers as far afield as Norway, Malta, Lebanon, the US, Australia and New Zealand.
Succorfish is also the only technology provider in the north of England to hold accreditation from the Marine Management Organisation for its SC2 Gen 2 Inshore Vessel Monitoring Systems (I-VMS), which is now used on vessels operating from more than 30 UK locations to monitor the positions of fishing boats within its coastal waters.
Dan Low, technical systems and operations supervisor at Succorfish, says: “Developing apps, both for clients’ use as part of wider systems and for our own, has been a core part of the business for several years and it makes commercial sense to now be opening up access to this expertise on a standalone basis.
“We have a range of base products on which bespoke apps can be developed as well as the experience of how this process has been carried out successfully for clients in some extremely challenging markets and situations.
“Our team manages the full development process from initial brief and designing interface concepts right through to delivery and execution, which provides our clients with both significant cost and efficiency benefits by keeping everything under one roof.
“We’re expecting to see the app development team grow this year and beyond, and to see this service line become a progressively more important part of Succorfish’s overall product offering.”
