A new study by Currys has discovered the UK’S favourite reality TV show pitting drama against reality, to discover which one comes out on top. The study asked 2000 Brits to choose between a selection of popular British television shows.
I’m a Celeb crowned as UK’s top British reality show
When it came to the top reality TV show in the UK, the study revealed that I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, also known as I’m a Celeb, claimed the top spot. The British survival show hosted by Ant and Dec features a line of famous names living together in a jungle swapping their luxurious lives for the basics.
Each episode brings on brand-new challenges in extreme conditions as the public vote on which celebrity they hope to see take it on as they earn meals for their fellow campmates.
Taking second place in the fight for the top reality show came the summer-based dating game series Love Island. The first series was aired in 2015 and has been running on ITV2 with a total of 9 series to date.
The matchmaking show begins with a group of single participants taking over a villa ready to embark on dating, romance, and relationships.
And in joint third position was The Great British Bake-off and escape to the Chateau.
BUT Brits prefer their TV drama to be fictional, as drama series beat reality overall
However, the study showed that out of all the shows analysed the British public preferred to be immersed in a drama with Peaky Blinders claiming the overall top spot as the UK’s favourite show.
The last reality show in the study was knocked out by Game of Thrones, which in turn lost to street gang-based crime drama Peaky Blinders in the race to the top overall favourite TV show.
