Members of Ryedale District Council’s Policy and Resources Committee approved two Flood Grants at its last meeting on 21 September; one for Malton and a second for Brawby.
The grants were established following a Scrutiny Review in 2016, when Ryedale District Council investigated options for supporting local communities before, during and after flooding events.
Malton Town Council, successful in its application to fund a new pump said
” We have selected a mobile pump suitable for residential areas in Malton and Old Malton and we plan to deploy it in the event of a localised flooding, working with other agencies to select the most appropriate location.”
Cllr Arnold, Chair of the Grants Working Party that recommended the grants for approval, commented,
” Flood Grants are one of three Grants Programmes operated by the Council aimed at supporting communities to develop local solutions and resilience. Members were pleased to be able to support the Town Council and Parish Meeting applications and look forward to receiving further applications from groups around Ryedale.”
