DUNTON, UK, Oct. 12, 2021 – Ford has revealed the all-new Tourneo Connect multi-activity vehicle that will bring a new level of style, space and versatility to the Tourneo brand.

The all-new Tourneo offers the ideal solution for busy lifestyles with a comfortable and highly flexible interior, full seven-seat capability and a choice of two lengths to suit every need. It is perfectly suited to handle everything from transporting camping gear and sports equipment to providing a practical partner for small businesses.

The smart, connected cabin introduces the latest digital cockpit technologies, while a comprehensive suite of sophisticated driver assistance systems helps make the all‑new Tourneo Connect comfortable and easy to drive. New features include assisted driving to reduce stress and Pro Trailer Backup Assist to simplify manoeuvres when towing.

Also making their Tourneo Connect debuts are a confidence‑enhancing all-wheel drive system, and a new automatic transmission option for petrol-powered models, both part of an expanded range of new petrol and diesel powertrains anticipated to offer class-leading efficiency. 1

“The all-new Tourneo Connect is the first of an exciting new generation of Tourneo vehicles from Ford. Its fresh new design, seven-seat versatility and new all-wheel drive technology plus its all-important connectivity features offer a winning combination for our customers,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “We’ve taken the qualities that customers value and have raised them to another level, creating a new Tourneo Connect that’s ready for any challenge – whether it’s work or play.”

Flexible, practical cabin
The all-new Tourneo Connect offers seven-seat capability on both short‑wheelbase L1 and long‑wheelbase L2 models for more practicality and convenience. When not in use, the second and third seat rows can be folded, tumbled or removed to create a spacious load area for work or sports equipment. The front passenger seat folds flat to allow items up to 3 metres long such as kayaks, flat-pack furniture or timber to be safely transported within the vehicle. 2

The new interior elevates cabin comfort without compromising the practicality that Tourneo Connect customers love. Large sliding side doors on each side of the vehicle help children and elderly occupants move in and out in restricted spaces where conventional doors may not be able to open fully. Convenience is enhanced by plentiful cup holders, cubbies and charging ports, while the available panoramic glass roof and dual‑zone climate control help make the cabin airy and more comfortable on long road trips. Durable, easy-to-clean rubber floor mats are available as an accessory for enhanced practicality and protection.

Trend, Titanium and Active customers can also specify ergonomic seats with extended leg supports and four-way electric lumbar adjustment certified by Germany’s independent Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V. (AGR), the Campaign for Healthier Backs.

With the second and third row seating removed, Tourneo Connect offers up to 3.1mof load volume in L2 models and 2.6min L1 models. 2 Carrying longer items or bulky leisure equipment is facilitated by maximum load lengths of 2,265mm behind the first row of seats, 1,452mm behind the second, and 629mm behind the third for L2 variants (1,913mm, 1100mm and 317mm for L1 variants). 2

The carefully selected materials and finishes used in Tourneo Connect’s cabin create a comfortable, premium feeling across the range, with unique treatments for each of the series variants, such as the Active model with its stylish blue graphics and contrast stitching.

Distinctive exterior designs
The all-new Tourneo Connect features the bold and expressive design language of Ford’s latest passenger cars. The front has been styled with strong, sculpted lines to create a sporty impression, with each series having its own distinctive appearance.

Ford’s SUV-inspired Active series offers a blend of rugged style and premium details. Unique 17-inch alloy wheels feature a two-tone finish of dark and machined metal, part of the signature Active look that includes a honeycomb grille, a metallic-effect skid plate and additional body mouldings around the wheel arches, sills and bumpers. The palette of ten vibrant different paint finishes includes new Boundless Blue, the unique launch colour for Tourneo Connect Active.

Exclusive wheel designs and finishing details continue the strong differentiation across the range, providing customers with a choice of desirable models to best suit their lifestyles. The rest of the series line-up includes:

  • Sport – distinctive bonnet stripes, more dynamic lower front bumper, 17-inch dark alloy wheels
  • Titanium – satin chrome detailing, privacy glass, 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Trend – high-gloss black grille surround, stylish wheel trims

All-new digital cockpit technologies
All Tourneo Connect models feature a large user-friendly touchscreen on the dashboard that puts key vehicle systems at the driver’s fingertips. An 8.25-inch screen comes as standard, and customers able to specify a 10-inch screen on all series if desired. The 10-inch screen is standard on Titanium, Sport and Active series in right-hand drive vehicles. 3 The touchscreen provides controls for navigation, audio and cabin climate, while other features such as telephone connection, vehicle information and audio configuration are grouped in sub-menus to be unobtrusive while driving.

Customers can also specify an advanced digital cluster display in place of the traditional dials – a feature that is standard on Sport models and available on Titanium and Active models. The digital cluster has a 10.25-inch screen in the instrument binnacle that can work alongside the central infotainment system to offer drivers more information and control. The display puts vehicle alerts, signed speed limits and current gear at the top of the screen for easier reading, above a multi-way configurable display showing:

  • Summary – for information about the current journey
  • Classic – for a simulated traditional speedometer and tachometer
  • Navigation – for a route map and information for additional guidance
  • Driver Assist – for the status of the vehicle’s active driver assistance systems

Vehicles with the 10-inch touchscreen feature a FordPass Connect modem to help customers stay connected while on the road. 4 Available Online Navigation 5 uses cloud data to offer additional live updates including traffic reports and alternative routes; nearby fuel stations including prices and opening hours; online map updates; and parking details including availability, distance and price.

Tourneo Connect customers can remotely access more information using the FordPass or FordPass Pro smartphone apps. 6 Using their phone, customers can see and control:

  • Status of lights, windows and doors
  • Vehicle locking and unlocking
  • Vehicle location and parking position, including address and time spent parked
  • Average fuel consumption
  • Vehicle health report to help proactive maintenance and avoid unplanned downtime

New levels of driver assistance
Tourneo Connect offers 19 driver assistance technologies to make journeys more comfortable, less demanding and safer. The generous standard specification includes:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning 7
  • Lane-Keeping System 7
  • Driver Alert 7
  • Cruise Control 7
  • Adjustable Speed Limiting System 7
  • Hill Start Assist 7
  • Front and rear parking sensors 7

Adaptive Cruise Control, 7 Traffic Sign Recognition, 7 Blind Spot Information System 7 and Cross Traffic Alert 7 are also available.

The all-new Tourneo Connect also introduces new driver assistance technology bundles. Parking Pack adds Active Park Assist with Park Out Assist, 7 which can identify and automatically steer into and out of perpendicular and parallel parking spaces while the driver controls the accelerator, braking and gear selection.

Towing Assist Pack includes new Pro Trailer Backup Assist 7 to help prevent or mitigate the risk of “jack-knifing” when reversing with a trailer. The system enables even inexperienced drivers to manoeuvre with confidence by using the door mirror adjustment knob instead of the steering wheel to control the vehicle and trailer direction. Together, Tourneo Connect’s rear‑view camera and sensors detect the trailer’s perimeter and superimpose guidelines on the camera screen to further help drivers.

Tourneo Connect models equipped with the PowerShift automatic transmission can also be specified with Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centring 7 which provides assisted driving for accelerator, braking and steering functions to reduce stress on highways or in stop and start traffic.

Freeing up cabin space and simplifying the driving experience, an electric parking brake is fitted as standard to all Tourneo Connect vehicles. The feature also enables Auto Hold 7 for easier hill starts.

Sport series vehicles introduce Adaptive Front Lighting System 7 as standard, which can intelligently recognise driving scenarios including motorway, city, countryside and junctions, and alter the headlamp beam pattern and brightness to optimise visibility and reduce glare. Auto high beam and LED headlamps and taillamps are also standard.

In addition to its advanced driver assistance technologies, the all-new Tourneo Connect can be specified with convenience-enhancing features including Quickclear heated windscreen, rain‑sensing wipers and heated door mirrors.

Class-leading efficiency
The comprehensive powertrain line-up of petrol and diesel engines is expected to deliver class‑leading efficiency for the new Tourneo Connect, with anticipated fuel consumption up to 57.6mpg and CO2 emissions from 127g/km. 1 As well as bringing all-wheel drive to the multi‑activity vehicle for the first time, the powertrain range also features an automatic transmission option for both petrol and diesel engines available on all length variants.

The line-up of four-cylinder turbocharged engines includes a 1.5‑litre EcoBoost petrol engine producing 114PS and 220Nm of torque, 1 and two EcoBlue diesels developing 122PS and 320Nm of torque, or 112PS and 280Nm of torque. 1 Auto Start-Stop technology is standard across the range for optimised efficiency. Both diesel engines feature an innovative “twin-dosing” system that injects AdBlue upstream of two selective catalytic converters to help reduce nitrogen oxides, and are also compatible with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Gas to Liquids (GTL) alternative fuels.

All models feature a smooth six-speed manual transmission as standard. The seven‑speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic gearbox delivers fast, smooth gearchanges for manual gearbox-rivalling performance with the comfort and convenience of an automatic. Steering wheel-mounted paddles and a Sport mode enhance the experience for keen drivers.

Customers can now benefit from all-wheel drive for the first time on Tourneo Connect to increase traction on loose and slippery surfaces for more confident driving. The system automatically distributes torque between the wheels depending on driving conditions and surfaces, helping drivers maintain progress in more challenging conditions.

All-wheel drive is available on models fitted with the 2.0-litre 122PS EcoBlue diesel engine and six‑speed manual gearbox and does not compromise interior space or loading height. Engine under-shield protection is available from the factory to support customers who frequently drive on rough surfaces.

Tourneo Connect multi-activities unpacked
Ford enlisted the help of two typical families to find out how many different things you carry around in your car every day for work or fun:

Beatrix runs her own mobile Pilates business, and together with partner Gary and their two children aged 13 and 10, takes frequent road trips back to her native Germany. Factor in kite-surfing and space for dogs Islay and Banksy and that’s a lot of stuff. Kwame and Anuli need room for DJ equipment; space to ferry their two sports-mad children to games; trips with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents; and family hiking and swimming holidays in the countryside.

Ford provided both families with its all-new Tourneo Connect – and then asked them to lay those possessions next to the car to show just how much can be packed within its spacious interior. The result? These revealing images, shot from above, with items laid out neatly alongside.

“Most of us have squeezed children or pets into a car before, but the all-new Tourneo Connect can comfortably take so much more. From kite-surfing equipment to a full sound system, our images show that being able to pack more into your car helps you get more out of life,” said Andy Hodge, Tourneo Connect brand manager, Ford of Europe.
