The Newcastle United ground is opening its doors to shoppers on 12 and 13 November – for two days of stalls, singing, soft play and even a surprise visit from Santa Claus.

Around 180 stalls will showcase the best decorations, handmade gifts, bespoke festive novelties, food, drinks and crafts from a hand-picked selection of exhibitors from across the North East and further afield.

And, for younger visitors, a Children’s Zone will feature live performances from much loved film characters along with free Christmas craft activities, soft play, face painting and body art and the chance to make some furry friends at a petting zoo.

There will be carol singing from local school children and Santa Claus will be making an early visit to the stadium to meet youngsters and find out what they would like for Christmas.

“Our Festive Fayre is going to be the perfect way to kick off Christmas,”said Gemma Nugent, duty manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, which manages catering and events at St James’ Park.

“Families can shop for Christmas gifts, relax over afternoon tea, book a table in the restaurant or take the children to meet Santa in his grotto – all at the heart of the city.”

The Festive fayre will take place between 10am and 5pm each day. Adult tickets cost £5 each day or £8 for the weekend in advance, while tickets on the day are £7.

Children’s tickets cost £3 per day or £5 for the weekend, but those who bring a present to donate to Metro Radio’s Cash for Kids appeal will be admitted free of charge and given additional vouchers for free soft play and face painting.

Tickets are available from the events team on 0191 201 8525, or through the Eventbrite page at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/st-james-park-festive-fayre-tickets.
