THE Chapel of Remembrance at Teesside Crematorium will be closed from Monday, June 11 for around three months.

The closure at the Acklam Road facility is to make way for the replacement of the Chapel roof which has been leaking and causing damage to the interior.

During the closure, a temporary facility will be located close to the Chapel which will host the Books of Remembrance and the Online Book of Remembrance. The books and online kiosk will be unavailable on Thursday, June 7 and Friday June 8 during relocation.

During the repair period the prayer room, facilities for flowers in memorial and the Teesside Hospice Tree of Life will be unavailable.

Visitors are asked not to leave any flowers or cards in the Chapel of Remembrance prior to Monday’s closure – green flower containers on the five memorial walls near the Chapel and in various locations on grey granite plinths in the Garden of Remembrance are available for general use throughout the year.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, but there will be no parking available around the Chapel of Remembrance during the project. Alternative parking spaces are available in Acklam Cemetery.
