Time is running out for Chester-le-Street residents hoping to win recognition for their gardening skills.
The deadline for entries to Chester’s Best, a competition celebrating floral displays and environmental improvements in the Chester-le-Street area, is this Friday (16 June).
The overall objective of the competition, organised as a partnership scheme between Durham County Council and the Chester-le-Street District Area Action Partnership, is to create a better and more attractive environment, which residents and visitors alike can enjoy.
The competition is open to individuals, allotment holders, groups and businesses.
Categories include: best business frontage/floral display, best group project to improve an area, best neighbourhood area, best residential garden and best individual allotment plot.
Judging will take place during August, and a special awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, 14 September.
Entry is free and entry forms can be downloaded at www.durham.gov.uk/civicpride.
