Boro Taxis has honoured Middlesbrough-born Paralympian Jade Jones at Teesside University’s Annual Awards Dinner.
Boro Taxis Company Secretary, Christine Bell, presented wheelchair-racer Jade with the Sportswoman of the Year award in recognition of her excellent performance on the T54 wheelchair racing circuit at a ceremony held at Wynyard Hall.
Held annually, Teesside University’s Student Awards are a chance for the university and its partners to celebrate outstanding student sportsmen, sportswomen, clubs, teams, Student Representatives and volunteers.
Christine Bell said: “Boro Taxis has sponsored the Student Awards as far back as I can remember. We feel it’s important that the students’ hard work outside the classroom is recognised.
“I’m so happy that I was able to present Jade with her award. She’s from Middlesbrough and has done the town proud at the Paralympics and other competitions like the London Marathon.
“I look forward to following her career progress. I’m sure she will continue to go from strength-to-strength and place at the highest levels of sport, and continue to be a leading light for Middlesbrough.”
Brian Keogh, Vice-President Activities at Teesside University Students’ Union, said: “We’re always grateful for the support of valued partners like Boro Taxis with big student events like our Annual Awards Dinner.
“We’ve enjoyed an excellent relationship over many years and they’re an organisation which always want to do whatever it can to help us enhance the student experience here at Teesside.”
