The Director of Public Health, Amanda Healy, will outline some key ways in which South Tyneside Council can improve the Borough’s overall health and wellbeing.

The forum will also be given details about the benefits of developing the work already underway with communities to help tackle health issues facing residents.

Councillor Rob Dix, Chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Co-ordinating and Call-In Committee said: “Improving the health and wellbeing of the Borough’s residents is a key priority for the Council. This is a great opportunity for residents to come along to the meeting and find out about what practical steps they can take to improve their own and their family’s health.”

Councillors will also receive a report from NHS England on the future of GP services at Jarrow Practice. They will hear that engagement is currently underway as part of a review to determine the future of GP services at the practice which until September of this year are being delivered by the nearby Mayfield Medical Group.

Members of the press and public are invited to attend the next meeting of the Overview and Scrutiny Co-ordinating and Call-In Committee, which takes place on Tuesday 24 May, at 10am, at Jarrow Town Hall.
