Members of the public looking to take their first steps towards a healthy and active lifestyle are being invited to join new activity sessions being launched by Durham County Council.
A number of free, weekly walking, running and cycling sessions are being organised to support people who would like to improve and maintain their health through physical activity. All sessions will be delivered by a qualified person and are open to anyone aged 16+.
The sessions are:
Teesdale Leisure Centre
Tuesdays 9.30am to 10.30am Running group (Couch to 5K)
Thursdays 10am to 11am Bike4Life cycling group
The Bowes Museum
Tuesdays 11am – 12noon Walk4Life walking group
(leave from the main entrance)
Beginners are welcome at all activities and bikes and helmets are provided at the Bike4life session.
Durham County Council’s Principal Physical Activity Manager, Andrew Brown, said: “We are proud to be developing these great new opportunities and hope by providing access to free quality activities, that we will encourage residents in the area to increase the amount of physical activity they do and thereby improve their overall health and wellbeing.”
