North East technology firm Advantex has completed a major infrastructure project for Pikup Padel at its new indoor padel facility at Follingsby Park in Gateshead.

The 33,500 sq. ft facility, which features 11 indoor courts alongside coaching, retail and community facilities, is one of the latest additions to the rapidly growing padel scene in the North East.

Advantex was appointed to deliver the core technology infrastructure required to support the new facility, providing a complete solution spanning internet connectivity, networking, security, cabling, IP cameras and audio-visual technology.

The project included the installation of a dedicated leased line to provide resilient business-grade internet connectivity, together with a hosted managed firewall to protect the venue’s network and connected systems.

Advantex also designed and deployed the site-wide Wi-Fi and switching network, ensuring reliable connectivity across the venue for staff, customers and connected devices.

A new structured cabling scheme was installed throughout the building to support the wireless network, audiovisual equipment and other technology used across the site.

Advantex also delivered an IP CCTV system covering key areas of the facility to enhance physical security, alongside an audio-visual solution designed to support the atmosphere and overall customer experience within the venue.

Scott Duncan, business development manager at Advantex, said: “Pikup Padel is a fantastic new facility for Gateshead, and it has been great to play a part in bringing the venue to life.

“The aim from the outset was to provide Pickup with a complete technology platform, rather than a collection of separate systems.

By designing the connectivity, Wi-Fi, switching, structured cabling, security, CCTV and AV together, we have been able to deliver an infrastructure that works as one solution and gives the business a strong platform for future growth.”

The new facility represents a significant investment in the continued growth of padel across the region, providing a purpose-built venue for players of all levels and helping to support the sport’s rapidly expanding profile in the North East.

Pikup Padel offers nine doubles courts and two singles courts, with the venue also providing coaching, social sessions, events and a dedicated pro shop.

Paddy Kendall, managing director at Pikup Padel, added: “Technology is central to how this flagship venue operates, from booking systems and customer Wi-Fi through to CCTV and audiovisual equipment.

“Having Advantex deliver everything as one joined-up project made the process much simpler, and we’re really pleased with the finished solution and how seamlessly everything works together.”
