The Alnwick Garden is completely transforming this Christmas and going all out with a festive extravaganza, as tickets officially launch for its sell-out Winter Light Trail and bumper programme of seasonal experiences.

Set to be The Garden’s most enchanting Christmas season yet, the attraction will embrace the spirit of Christmas throughout November and December with sparkling lights, seasonal food and a host of activities.

Creating an immersive experience from the moment visitors arrive, the pathways leading up to the entrance will be adorned with decorations, building excitement with every step.

At the heart of the celebrations will be two of The Garden’s biggest festive attractions: its Winter Light Trail and Father Christmas’ Lilidorei Grotto.

Running from 20th November 2026 to 3rd January 2027, the Light Trail will combine spectacular installations, festive soundscapes, expansive Christmas decor, and interactive surprises, transforming the venue after dark for visitors of all ages.

One Winter Light Trail ticket gives visitors access to illuminations across both The Garden and Lilidorei, bringing two iconic attractions together as part of one immersive festive experience.

From 20th November to 24th December, families can also book festive breakfasts with Santa, or pay him and his elves a visit in his Lilidorei grotto, with additional slots added this year to accommodate growing popularity.

A wider programme of festive events and experiences will also take place throughout the season, including:

  • A Lilidorei Christmas – 16th November 2026 to 3rd January 2027
  • Festive Menu at The Treehouse – 18th November 2026 to 3rd January 2027
  • Festive Afternoon Tea – 19th November to 24th December (Thursday to Sunday)
  • Winter Lights at The Alnwick Garden and Lilidorei – 20th November 2026 to 3rd January 2027
  • Meet Father Christmas at Lilidorei – 20th November to 24th December
  • The Alnwick Garden Christmas Fair – 21st and 22nd November
  • Festive Wreath Making Class – 27th November
  • Festive Makeup Masterclass with Charlotte Tilbury – 29th November
  • Breakfast with Father Christmas at The Treehouse and Lilidorei – 5th, 12th and 19th December
  • Festive Feast in The Pavilion – 10th and 17th December

Mark Brassell, CEO of The Alnwick Garden, said: “There is something really special about the dark nights arriving and the feeling that Christmas is just around the corner. This year, we’ve made it our mission to ensure visitors experience that magic the second they arrive.

“From November, the whole attraction will be completely transformed. With lights and decorations throughout The Garden, and an illuminated Christmas tree forest in Lilidorei, visitors will feel the festive spirit wherever they turn.

“Our Winter Light Trail has become such a special tradition for so many, and every year our team challenges itself to create something even more magical. Whether you’re experiencing it for the first time or returning as a seasonal ritual, we look forward to welcoming you.”

Tickets for the Winter Light Trail are now on sale to The Alnwick Garden members and will be available to the public on Thursday, 10th September.
