Blyth Tall Ship Invites Families Aboard for Free Half-Term Open Day
Families are being invited to step aboard the town’s Tall Ship and discover its maritime heritage at a free open day during the October school holidays.
The Blyth Tall Ship Open Day takes place on Thursday, October 29, offering families the chance to explore the ship and heritage workshop, enjoy live entertainment and take part in a range of activities all with free entry and free parking.
The event will officially open at 10am with players from Blyth Spartans, who will also be supporting a raffle offering the chance to win two hospitality tickets to a Spartans game during the 2026/27 season.
Activities throughout the day will include tall ship and heritage workshop tours, arts and crafts, STEM activities, a Mouse Hunt and Rubbings Trail, storytelling, live music and a children’s samba workshop, plus selfie opportunities, a raffle and tombola. For history fans, an archive exhibition will be on display and keeping everyone entertained will be Blyth Valley Samba. Refreshments will be available to purchase.
The open day is part of the charity’s continuing work to bring Blyth’s maritime history to life and encourage local families and visitors to discover the story of the town, its shipbuilding traditions and its connections to the sea.
Siobhan Sargeant, CEO of Blyth Tall Ship, said: “Our open day is a great opportunity for local families to come along, have some fun and discover what we are all about.
“We want people to be able to explore the Tall Ship and our heritage workshop, but also to see that there is plenty going on here for children and families.
“We’re delighted that Blyth Spartans players and Blyth Valley Sambe will be joining us to open the event, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone on October 29.”
The Blyth Tall Ship Open Day takes place on Thursday, October 29, from 10am, at Blyth Tall Ship, Quayside, South Harbour, Blyth, Northumberland, NE24 3PA.
Entry and parking are free.
