The North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) has launched two framework agreements within its £1.6bn construction category.

The procurement solutions will provide the North East public sector with compliant routes to appoint experts across a range of disciplines and support the region’s net zero ambitions.

NEPO233 Retrofit and Decarbonisation Works, is a £300m, four-year, framework agreement, comprising 15 lots relating to services that support building efficiencies such as insulation, heat pumps and solar technology.

NEPO212 Support Services for the Built Environment, includes 13 lots across a wide range of services such as architecture, project management and structural services. The six-year framework has a lifetime value of approximately £42m.

Joanne Leask, procurement manager at NEPO, said: “We have kicked off 2023 with the launch of two high-profile framework agreements to help the North East public sector meet its built environment ambitions.

“NEPO’s consultative approach led to us structuring the frameworks in multiple lots to encourage bids from small to medium enterprises. This approach paid off and over half of the sixty-two awarded suppliers are SMEs, representing diversity, innovation and choice for our public sector members.”

Steven Sinclair, procurement & commercial director at NEPO, added: “NEPO’s construction category strives to support evolving market requirements for the public sector. We have worked in collaboration with North East local authorities, contractors and industry bodies to deliver procurement solutions that embody best practice while meeting the needs of the communities we serve. The launch of our two latest framework agreements will connect the public sector to the right expertise and support the region’s net zero ambitions.”
