STOCKTON International Riverside Festival (SIRF), celebrating its 30th birthday this year, is ready to launch with a spectacular opening show tomorrow (Thursday 3 August).
The UK premiere of ‘Frameshift’, a co-production from Stalker Theatre and Creative Dandi, an Australian and South Korean collaboration, will take the audience on a journey through Korea in 1926, 2016 and 2106 as snapshots of time across three jaw dropping aerial rigs.
Interactive technology artists combine with acrobatic performance groups to display stunning vertical performance, contemporary dance, b-boying, video mapping and video technology in a dazzling opening show.
‘Frameshift’ opens on Thursday 3 August between 10pm and 10.45pm at Stockton’s Riverside. There will be a second performance at the same time and location on Friday 4 August.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “It is a real coup for SIRF to be hosting the UK premiere of ‘Frameshift’ and we look set to be in for a treat when the show officially kicks off this year’s festival.
“It is fitting that this brilliant performance, made possible by international artists coming together to explore their creative possibility, opens the celebrations as it really represents everything that we love about SIRF. There will be intrigue, excitement and storytelling – all components of what makes our festival so great.
“This is not a show to be missed and I would encourage everyone to get their family and friends together and head down to Stockton’s Riverside for an unforgettable evening.”
