General public and family tickets have gone on sale for TakeOff Festival, England’s leading festival for children and young people.
The annual festival returns from 16-22 October across Durham for a jam packed week of theatre for young audiences, ending with a Festival Family Day in Durham City on Saturday 21 October. The festival is produced by Theatre Hullabaloo and supported by Durham County Council.
Miranda Thain, Creative Producer at Darlington-based Theatre Hullabaloo, which organises the Festival says:
“We are very excited to bring TakeOff Festival to Durham once again this year. We have an exceptional programme of world class theatre for children and young people to enjoy in schools and their local communities across Durham.
“2017 marks the 30th anniversary of TakeOff Festival and we will be celebrating with companies from Mexico, Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, Iceland and the UK. This year’s programme of over 90 performances during the week promises to be full of delights and surprises.
“Join us with NEST (UK) for a sensory journey through the seasons for babies, or enjoy watching IPet (The Netherlands) clown around with iPads. Troll (Iceland) brings Icelandic folk tales to life using puppetry, whilst The Party (UK) is a fast paced acrobatic circus show… there’s even pass the parcel.”
Cllr Ossie Johnson, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for tourism, culture, leisure and rural issues, said: “TakeOff Festival is a great opportunity for children and young people across the
county to enjoy some truly world class theatre.
“We are looking forward to its return this October and are excited about the wide-ranging and international programme that has been planned.”
The TakeOff Family Day on Saturday 21 October will bring the festival to a close with 15+ performances, storytelling, installations, arts and crafts, street theatre and much more!
