A DURHAM-based firm of solicitors is celebrating its first anniversary, with the appointment of two new members to its team.
EMG Solicitors was set up by Managing Director, Emma Gaudern, a year ago, specialising in a range of Court of Protection work, including acting as a Professional Deputy for children and adults with complex brain injuries arising from personal injury.
And now the success of EMG in the first year has led to the growth of the practice, allowing the company to extend its remit into other areas of the law.
Private client solicitor Holly Hirst, formerly of Richard Reed Solicitors in Sunderland and specialist divorce and family law expert, Natalia Lalas, previously of Askew Bunting in Teesside have now joined the team working at the company’s office at Durham’s Rivergreen Centre.
Holly (31) specialises in the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney, helping people appoint a trusted person to make decisions for them, while 41-year-old Natalia from Sunderland is a highly experienced divorce and family law solicitor.
Holly and Natalia will now work alongside Emma and the existing team of Jemma Morland and Samantha Pye, growing the business.
“It has been an extremely successful first year and we’re delighted that we can mark that by expanding our team,” said Emma, who previously headed up the private client team at BHP Law.
“We work in some very specialised areas but thanks to now having Natalia and Holly on board we have developed the range of services we are able to offer to our existing and new clients.”
Emma, 39, has been working with Court of Protection cases for more than ten years and currently acts as deputy for 45 clients along with being a trustee for a further 15 trusts for compensation.
She is regularly instructed by claimants and defendants in compensation claims and acts as an advisor on assessing Court of Protection cost claims, to ensure they are fair.
“Bringing Holly and Natalia on board is part of our strategy to recruit the very best lawyers to meet the needs of our clients,” said Emma.
