A Traditional Christmas Shopping Experience at Preston Park

Screen Shot 2015-12-03 at 16.10.18STEP back in time and enjoy a weekend full of traditional festivities at Preston Park Museum & Ground’s inaugural Christmas Bazaar this weekend.

Fill your Christmas stockings with unique gifts for all the family from hand-picked market stalls on the cobbled Victorian Street on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December. Plus, enjoy carols, sample festive foodie delights and experience calligraphy and wood carving demonstrations.

For the little ones, there is a chance to meet Father Christmas in his traditional grotto, write a letter to the North Pole using a dip pen and ink and have a go at making Christmas baubles to take home.

The Toy Shop on the Victorian Street will also re-open its doors to the public selling wooden and musical toys, as well as handmade Victorian style rocking horses which are carved in the shop by traditional toy maker Mike Bowron.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Christmas Bazaar offers a full day out for all the family and an opportunity to experience a truly traditional Christmas from years gone by. With market stalls, Father Christmas, carols and family crafts, I’m sure it will prove to be a real highlight in Preston Park’s event calendar and a one we can all look forward to year after year.”

The Christmas Bazaar is open from 10am to 4pm and entry is free with museum admission. Meet Father Christmas for just £5 including a gift, and write a letter to the North Pole for £1.50 including a personalised reply.
