The Council will be contacting all electors with a postal or proxy vote where the signature held on file will be over 5 years old at the end of January 2016, in line with a legal requirement to refresh these signatures.
“All absent voters are encouraged to return their notices promptly to enable the authority to carry out this exercise as efficiently as possible and to enable the updating of records, to ensure that security checks about absent voting can continue to be effective,“ said Janet Waggott, Chief Executive, Electoral Registration Officer and Returning Officer for Ryedale District Council.
