Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 10.38.31Alice in Wonderland is leading the guestlist for a special party this weekend.

On Saturday (July 18), The Beach House, Roker will be celebrating its first birthday with a day of family fun and activities for all ages.

Alice will be joined for the event by her good friends, the Cheshire Cat and SAFC mascots, Samson and Delilah, as well as club legends Kevin Ball and Jimmy Montgomery.

There will be themed activities running throughout the afternoon, including arts and crafts and a treasure hunt around Roker Beach.

A special Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea will also be available, with all visitors being encouraged to don fancy dress for the occasion.

The Beach House bistro, operated by 1879 Events Management, was launched in 2014 as part of the Pier Point development.

Since then the venue has opened seven days a week, serving a range of main meals, snacks, desserts and signature ice cream sundaes from 10am until 5pm.

Amanda Owen, Manager at The Beach House, said: “It has been an amazing year for The Beach House.  What better way to celebrate than with a party led by Alice in Wonderland, whose creator Lewis Carroll was a regular visitor to the area and, who I hoped would have loved this family friendly venue.”

The Alice in Wonderland activities will run from noon until 3pm on Saturday and are free for all ages. The special Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea will be available from 2.30pm until 4.30pm, priced at £11.95 per adult and £7.95 per child.
